Karen Ann Barlow, age 72, of Portland, Texas died Sunday, April 9, 2017 after a short illness. Karen was born on October 12, 1944 to T.S. and Marie Barclay in Pampa, Texas. Karen was raised in Plainview, Texas where she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Gearhart. Karen and her husband relocated to Kerrville, Texas where they raised their children. After the death of her first husband, Karen married William R. "Bill" Barlow in 1982. Bill and Karen were married for 35 years at the time of her death.\r\n \r\nKaren was a warm, loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her joys were sewing, baby sitting, and providing a joyous home for her family. Her talented gifts showed throughout all that she did for friends and family. She was a dedicated employee for Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital for 26 years as a certified Pharmacy Technician. She brought smiles of joy to all who grew to know her and that memory stays with us.\r\n \r\nShe is survived by her husband, Bill Barlow of Portland; two daughters, Kim Beal and her husband DL of Portland and Kelli Zahn and her husband Ed of Harrisonburg, VA; stepdaughter, Sally Barlow James and husband Jay of London, UK; stepson, Stan Barlow and wife Carolyn of Kerrville; six grandchildren, Sadie Phillips, Nathan Williams, Montana Beal, Whitney Barlow, Grant James, and Logan James; her sister, Sonjie Thomas and significant other Catarino Martinez.\r\n \r\nKaren is proceeded in death by her parents, T.S. and Marie Barclay and son, Kirk Gearhart.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, family is requesting contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.\r\n \r\nA memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, 2:00 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n
