Mrs. Stella Juanita Monroe (known by Juanita to all) passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her residence inBandera, Texas at the age of 97. She was born in Jasper, Georgia on November 9, 1918 to Grover Charles and Pearl Magnolia Pettett. Juanita married Robert Dale Monroe on December 4, 1953 in Seguin, Texas to start one of the true great love stories of all time. \r\n\r\nMrs. Monroe was most known and loved for her hobbies. She took up various forms of art, starting with oil painting and expanding her talents to acrylic painting and sculpture as well. Juanita eventually found her way into the world of porcelain art, and that is where she really flourished. She was an avid student of the art, and soon became the master. She gave seminars to local porcelain art clubs in San Antonio and the Hill country for many years and at state and national conventions as well. Even at 97 year old, she still spent most days in her painting room creating the most wondrous porcelain paintings.\r\n\r\nMrs. Monroe is survived by her daughters Charline Roberson of San Antonio, Texas, Sharon Lucart of Roswell, New Mexico, Shirley Hughes of Roswell, New Mexico, and Normandy Monroe of Arlington, Texas; sons Robert G. Monroe of Nacogdoches, Texas and Johnny Monroe of Guthrie, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nShe is preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Monroe, her parents Grover and Pearl Pettett, her sister Jeffie Lee Pettett Lindsey and brothers Owen Pettett and Jack Pettett.\r\n\r\nThe friends will receive friends at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera on Tuesday, September 13 from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 14 at 10:30 AM at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, 207 Lake View Dr, Bandera, TX, 78003, with Bro. Alan Otten officiating. Interment will follow at Bandera Cemetery.
