Joseph Cleveland Reeves of Pipe Creek, Texas, passed away on February 18, 2016, surrounded by family at the VA Medical Center in Kerrville, TX. He was born on March 21, 1916 in Roswell, Georgia, the son of Posey and Fannie Waters Reeves.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Ruth Kronke Reeves, his daughter, Deborah Reeves Fite of San Antonio, Texas, and her husband, Gary L. Fite. He was proud of his grandchildren and their families, Joseph and Chrystie Fite, Matthew and Sarah Fite, Beth and Patrick Blische, and equally proud of his twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, William D. Reeves and his wife Susan of Suwanee, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Stock Reeves.\r\n\r\nJoseph received his education at North Fulton High School and Georgia Tech in Atlanta before entering the service in World War II. He attended Field Artillery Officer's Candidate School at Ft. Sill, OK., in 1942 and was assigned as a battery commander with the 92nd Infantry (Buffalo) Division. He also served with the 25th Infantry Division during the occupation of Japan. During the Korean War, he served as the Provost Marshall of Fort Polk, LA. and later as chief of training at the ProvostMarshal General Center, Ft. Gordon, GA., where he retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1961. After retiring from the Army, he went to work for the Social Security Administration for 16 years before retiring.\r\n\r\nHe and his wife, Ruth, moved to their ranch in Pipe Creek in 1990 where they enjoyed ranch life and being active in the Bandera Grace Lutheran Church.\r\n\r\nVisitation is on Monday, February 22, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Bandera, TX. Funeral services are at Grace Lutheran Church, 451 Hwy. 173 North, Bandera, TX at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23. Burial with full military honors will be held Wednesday, February 24 at 9:30 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. \r\n\r\nThe family wishes to thank the outstanding staff at the KTCC1 wing of the VA Medical Center for their outstanding care.\r\n\r\nIn Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1226, Bandera, TX 78003.\r\n\r\n
