Joseph Eugene LaLanne, beloved husband, father and "PaPaw" passed away on April 27, 2018 in San Antonio at the age of 90. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Thomas and Isabella (Bella)LaLanne on July 27, 1927. He married Dorothy I. Niesner on February 18, 1950 in Schulenburg, Texas. He resided in Pipe Creek since the early 1980's.\r\n\r\nHe worked for Southern Pacific Railroad before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1945. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the Southern Pacific Railroad until 1968. He then went on to work for Church's Fried Chicken until his retirement in 1984. He was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10258 in Bandera, Texas and a member the American Legion Post 410 in Lakehills, Texas.\r\n\r\nHe is preceeded in death by his parents; sisters, Bella Gene Arnold and Myra Ruth Garrett; son, James Scott LaLanne and daughter, Carrie Lynn LaLanne.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy LaLanne; sons, Timothy LaLanne and wife Deborah of Pipe Creek, CharlesLaLanne and wife Ann of Georgetown, and Thomas LaLanne and wife Catherine of Spring Branch; sisters, Genevieve Wicker, Gladys Lynch and Corinne Robichaux; grandchildren, Joseph LaLanne, Robert LaLanne, Katherine LaLanne-Ryder, Jake LaLanne,Brandon LaLanne, Nicolas LaLanne, Elizabeth Birmingham, Michelle Birmingham; and great-grandchildren, Riley LaLanne, Beau LaLanne, ColbieLaLanne, Tucker LaLanne and Alina LaLanne and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera, Texas. A reception will be held afterwards at the Pipe Creek Community Center in Pipe Creek, Texas.\r\n\r\nThe family has requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.\r\n\r\nThe family of Joseph Eugene LaLanne, wish to extend our sincere thanks to all of the doctors and staff at Audie L.Murphy VA Hospital, STVHCS and the Community Living Center for their compassionate care and treatment.\r\n
