Joseph Lang

Master Sergeant Joseph B. "Opa" Lang (US Army, Ret.), age 85 of Kerrville, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1932 in Gillespie County to Edwin Theodore Lang and Ottilie Ida (Brinkrolf) Lang. On June 4, 1955, he married Mildred Beatrice Wright in Harper.\r\n \r\nMaster Sergeant Lang served in the US Army from 1953-1973 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Mooney for many years and retired in 1995. \r\n \r\nHe was a member of the Retired Military Association, the Non-Commissioned Officers Association and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper. \r\n \r\nHe loved to dance, loved sweets, and especially loved German chocolate cake. \r\n \r\nSurvivors include wife, Mildred Beatrice Lang of Kerrville; daughters, Patricia Jean Lautzenheiser of Medina and Sherry Denise Wootton of Ingram; sons, James Birt Lang of Kerrville and Joseph Rodney Lang of Magnolia, TX; sisters, Adeline Amalia Cottle of San Antonio and Bernice Gertrude Spruill of Virginia; brother, Paul Jerome Lang of Harper; grandchildren, J.W., Shawn, Sherri T, Tracy, Wyatt, Jennifer, Alicia, Meagan and Tyler; and 16 great-grandchildren.\r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by siblings, Joselyn (Pat) Hughes, Ellis Arthur Lang, Edwin (Junny) Lang and Lillian M. Sullivan. \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 4-6 PM with a Rosary to follow at 6 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nMass will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper with Father David Wagner as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Anthony Cemetery.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice.\r\n \r\n
