Her children rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28\r\n\r\nJohnnie Allene Wheat was born in Johntown, Texas on November 22,1928 and went home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2018 at the age of ninety. She was the daughter of J.E. and Nannie Lee (Hill) Wilson. She was the fifth child of two brothers and four sisters.\r\n\r\nAllene, beloved wife, mother, Nanna and Aunt grew up attending Old Union school and Old Union Missionary Baptist Church, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She attended East Texas Baptist College for one year before moving to Dallas and living with her relatives. She moved to the YMCA when her sister Doris moved to join her in Dallas. She worked as a bank teller where she met R.O. Rocky Wheat, her future husband.\r\n\r\nThey married on August 23,1952 at Tremont Baptist Church in Dallas and were married for fifty eight years before Rocky's homegoing. They were blessed with three boys, John, Richard, and Robert. She worked as a church secretary until her children were born. When they were school age, she went back to work as a school secretary and eventually worked for 22 years at Eastfield College as Assistant Business Administrator. After seeing to it that her three boys graduated from college, she enrolled in school again during her off hours and received her Associates Degree from Eastfield College.\r\n\r\nShe made her profession of faith at the age of fourteen at Old Union Church and was baptized in Linger Long Lake. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and active in the Jubilee Bible Study class and Prime Time Choir and ministries.\r\n\r\nShe is remembered for her faith, strength, independence, wit and deep love for the Lord and her family. Though she raised her family in the city, she was a country girl at heart. She had an incredible green thumb, loved to garden, pick up pecans and cook. She was the best role model a mom could be for three boys in life and in faith.\r\n\r\nShe is preceded in death by her husband, Rocky Wheat, her parents, her sisters Flora Dale, Janie Cochran, and Doris West, her brother Darrell Wilson.\r\n\r\nThose left to cherish her memory are her three sons, John and wife Melinda Wheat of Kerrville, TX; Richard "Buck" and wife Melinda Wheat of Seminole, TX' Robert and wife Becky Wheat of Vernon, TX; Grandchildren Mandi and husband Jake Kelley; Amy Wheat, Jordan Wheat, Allison Wheat, Micah Wheat, Graci-Mei Wheat and great grandsons, Jackson Kelley, Benjamin Kelley, and Boone Kelley.\r\n\r\nThere will be a memorial service at Trinity Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 2nd at 1:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Restland Funeral Park in Dallas Texas on Thursday, January 3rd.\r\n\r\nHonorary Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
