John Setnan

John Thomas Setnan, 69, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on August 23rd, 2014. He was born in Hennepin County, Minnesota to Harold and Harriet Setnan on October 26th, 1944. He graduated from Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota and attended Texas Lutheran where he met his future wife Margaret (Peggy) Pope. They were married on August 8th, 1964 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.\r\n\r\nHe worked in the insurance industry for much of his career. Afterward, he and his wife Peggy became very involved in their community and founded Community Outreach, a multifaceted non-profit ministerial organization. He and his wife also created the Setnan Family Scholarship Fund for qualified African American young men and women from Kerrville, Texas who might not have the opportunity of pursuing a higher education without additional financial assistance.\r\n\r\nJohn Thomas Setnan was preceded in death by his father, Harold Thomas Setnan, and mother, Harriet Rees Setnan. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Setnan; children, Andrea Ruth Setnan and Warren Thomas Setnan; sister, Martha Setnan Robinson; grandchildren, Ashley Liesmann Lozano, John Liesmann, David Lamb, Kayo Setnan, Gretchen Setnan, and Garrett Setnan; great-grandchildren, Cameron Haines, Evan Haines, Lance Diamond, and Isabella Lozano; sister and brothers in laws, Mary and Buddy Bruton, Martha and Danny Hearn; nephews and niece, Scott Robinson, Kenneth Robinson, Stephen Bruton, Sean Bruton, Matthew Hearn, and Ruth Hearn.\r\n\r\nHis body was laid to rest at the Garden of Memories North in Kerrville, Texas during a private graveside service with immediate family members present.\r\n\r\nMemorial services will be held 10:00 am on September 6th, 2014 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, Texas with the Reverend Allen Noah of Barnett Chapel, officiating.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes that memorials be given to the Setnan Family Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers: https://www.communityfoundation.net/funds-administered-tcf/\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
