John R. Martindale Sr., 91, of Waco, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30th 2018 in Waco, Texas. He was born Wetumka, Oklahoma to J. L. (Pop) and Dorothy Martindale on February 3, 1926. He married Mable Rock on July 22, 1949 in Long Beach, California.\r\n\r\nJohn served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Japan Occupation Forces and Korean War. He was retired from Civil Service.\r\n\r\nHe was involved in Hunt Baptist Church and was a deacon since 1956.\r\n\r\nJohn was preceded in death by his parents, J. L. and Dorothy Martindale; his wife, Mable Martindale; one brother, Jimmy Martindale; and a daughter, Marie Heisey.\r\n\r\nJohn's sister, Dorothy Edmonds, went home to be with the Lord one hour after John. Survivors include sons, John and Claudia Martindale of Spring Branch, Texas and Philip and Donna Martindale of Hewitt, TX; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n\r\nServices will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Hunt Baptist Church officiated by Rev. John Collis. Burial will follow at Hunt Japonica Cemetery.
