John Edward Johnson, 70, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2017 in Bandera, Texas. He fought a long battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home with his family. He was born in Houston, Texas to leonard Franklin Johnson and Amanda Hedwig Handrick on October 29, 1946. He married Amanda Jean Chapman on September 11, 1981 in Houston, Texas.\r\n\r\nHe graduated from Spring Branch High School in Houston. He was a wallpaper hanger in Houston for many years. John and Amanda owned and operated Classic Wallcoverings Inc., a blind and wallpaper company, for 30 years. John was active in St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. He was an usher, junior warden and vestry member. He loved spending time with his family, friends and many pets.\r\n\r\nJohn is preceded in death by his parents Leonard Franklin Johnson, Amanda Hedwig Handrick and his son, John Edward Johnson II.\r\n\r\nJohn is survived by his wife, Amanda Jean Johnson; daughter, Jean Nicole Johnson and son, Alex Leonard Johnson. John is also survived by his sister, Janice Marie Melcher and her husband Jerry Lee Melcher; brother, Michael Leonard Johnson.\r\n\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. There will be refreshments offered in the Parish Hall following the service.\r\n\r\nWe wish to extend our sincere thanks to Anne Shackelford and her family for her unwavering support, advice and love, also to Father Allen Conkling and the congregation of St. Christopher's Church. We would also like to thank his doctors, Dr. Barrington, Oncologist; Dr. Fritzsch, Urologist and Dr. Sprouse MD in Kerrville, TX.
