John L. Iman peacefully passed away and went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2018. \r\n \r\nHe was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and spent his early years between Blackwell and Braman, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed his time on the family farm. John's early education was in Perry, Oklahoma, followed by his high school years in Ardmore, where he received various awards and honors from his classmates which he quietly cherished. Upon graduation from high school, he traveled to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he became a proud brother and member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and received many recognitions. \r\n \r\nUpon graduating from OSU, John was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant with the Combat Engineers. After honorable service to his country, John moved to San Angelo, Texas, where he championed numerous businesses that allowed his student employees to be assisted in their higher education and needs. \r\n\r\nSan Angelo was where he met his love of his life, Joan Terry, whom he would marry and to whom he was devoted with an unwavering, giving spirit of love for over 44 years. They were soon blessed with the birth of John Terry Iman, who became the love of their lives. Years later, life would bring them to Kerrville, Texas, to rekindle warm memories in their Riverhill community, be closer to their son and develop new friends. \r\n\r\nJohn's entire life was built upon his remarkably bold yet meaningful language of the heart. He loved his family and his family of friends. John served as a galvanizing ambassador for various boards and community efforts in the communities where he lived. He was a passionate champion for the fine arts. \r\n\r\nPreceding him in passing was his good wife, Joan T. Iman, and his parents, as well as his animal family: Jaxon, Snickers, and Sara Elizabeth Iman.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his only child John Terry Iman and his beautiful wife Dana, brother James R. Iman, cousins Donna Bost, Ruslyn Hermanson, Bob Bradley, Jane Ann Srader, and their respective families, his dog Ida June, and numerous "extended family of friends" in the communities of Oklahoma, San Angelo, Abilene, and Kerrville, Texas.\r\n \r\nJohn was a kind, social, colorful, loving person, with a deep personal faith in God. Those who loved him will miss his incorrigible passion for the promotion of life and the helping of others. \r\n\r\nThe funeral service will be at the First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, Texas, on November 10, 2018, at 2:00 PM.
