John was born April 19, 1940 in Galveston, Texas to Edwin Hulse, Jr. and Marjorie Lou Maynard Hulse. He attended Ball High School. Upon leaving high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy in April of 1957. \r\n\r\nAfter leaving the Navy in April of 1961, John returned to Galveston. He worked at many trades, even owning a service station in the early ‘60's. John Edwin Hulse, Jr. was born in 1963 and the small family moved to San Antonio. After moving to San Antonio, John, Sr. completed his pilot's licenses, both multi-engine and helicopter. \r\n\r\nIn 1966, Timothy Wayne Hulse was born. Tim's mother managed an apartment complex while John, Sr. managed El Rancho Restaurant. He was a jack of all trades and a master of many.\r\n\r\nIn 1969, John had moved on and was working at Tallyho Mobile Homes. The complex was built to provide housing for hemisphere goers. It was at this time that he met his second wife, Lois Kullenberg. They married in May of 1970 and lived at Tallyho. Their first summer together, they managed a swimming pool and helped to raise John's two young boys.\r\n\r\nDuring the next three years, John and Lois moved first to Houston, then back to San Antonio. John worked for H.B. Zachary and Lois taught school. In 1973, they became the proud parents of Edwin Kullen Hulse. Now there were three boys to love.\r\n\r\nIn 1982, the family moved to Houston when John went to work for Becon/Bechtel Corporation. The Hulse family sailed sailboats, road Harleys and John became an avid skydiver and jump photographer. They lived, worked and played in Houston until 2003.\r\n\r\nWith the boys grown and married and off on their own, first Lois retired from teaching and John soon retired at Bechtel. They bought a RV and moved to Kerrville to care for Lois' parents, Elsie and Upton Kullenberg. John became very active at the kerrville gun range and very busy at the doughnut shop, helping to solve the problems of the world.\r\n\r\nJohn is survived by his three sons, John Jr., Tim, and Ed; his grandchildren, Brian (wife Lindsey), Tiffany Del Real (Miguel), Hunter, Keegan and Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Ethan Hulse; brother, Michael L. Hulse (Mary Lou); and two nieces, Melinda Beever and Miranda Hulse. He also leaves behind his wife of almost 50 years, Lois and his beloved dog, Sammie and her sisters, Sophia, Sissy, Sadie and Sunnie. \r\n\r\nA celebration of his life will be held at a later date.\r\n
