John Fluegel

John David Fluegel was born September 9, 1941, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Carlton and Evangeline Fluegel. John grew up in St. Paul and later attended Winona State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Science. Upon graduation, John taught math and science at a local high school before returning to graduate school. He attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, where he earned a Masters in Accounting degree. After graduate school, John became a CPA and worked for a large accounting firm before starting his own practice. In 1978, he married Connie Jean Moats with whom he shared thirty nine loving years in both Houston and Kerrville, Texas.\r\n\r\nAfter an extended illness, John peacefully passed away at home on October 27, 2017 while surrounded by his family's love. Affectionately known as "Papa" to his family and "J.D." to his friends, the wisdom and laughter that he brought to all of our lives will be deeply missed.\r\n\r\nJohn is survived by his wife, Connie, of Kerrville; his son, Jimmy Fluegel of Austin,; his daughter, Toni, and his son-in-law, Cory Bourgeois of Houston; his son, David Fluegel of Tennessee; his son, Doug and daughter in-law Sonya Fluegel and granddaughter London of Tennessee; his "other daughter" and her husband, Julie and James Wingate of Boerne; his brothers, Charles Fluegel, Paul Fluegel, and James Fluegel; his sisters, Carol Fluegel and Virginia Brigham; and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nThe family would also like to extend its gratitude and admiration to the Peterson Home Health, Peterson Hospice, and Brookdale Skilled Nursing Facility staffs for the warmth and compassion they exhibited during this difficult time.\r\n\r\nFuneral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.\r\n
