Joel Spence

Joel C. (Pete) Spence passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Kerrville, Texas. He was 97 years old. He was born on October 19, 1917 in Hunt County, Texas, to Joel T. and Claudia Stanford Spence. Spence served in the army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Marca Melton Brin in January of 1946 in Cleburne, Texas. Spence managed The Bootery Shoe Store in Cleburne in the 1940's and 50's. He owned The Bootery Shoe Store in Beeville in the 1950's and 60's. Spence was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church (PCA), Beeville.\r\n\r\nSpence was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; a daughter, Sandra Sue Spence; a son, Ronald B. Brin; and two grandchildren.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his sons, George G. Brin (Colleen) and Mark J. Spence (Karen); daughter-in-law, Lora Lou Brin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.\r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Hilltop Village Nursing Home Chapel in Kerrville. Rev. Mark J. Spence will officiate. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Cleburne, Texas.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence Presbyterian Church, P.O.
