Joel Robbins

Joel D. Robbins, 79 of Lakehills, Texas passed on May 14, 2018 peacefully at his home with his family at his side. He will be missed and remembered as a strong, proud, loving husband and father who truly loved and cared deeply for his family, friends and his peace of heaven on Medina Lake. \r\n\r\n Joel was born in Clinton, Iowa on May 23, 1938. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School and joined the Navy Reserves. In August of 1963 he joined the United States Air Force and five months later married his wife of 54 years Sharon Sword of South Beloit, Illinois. \r\n\r\nJoel proudly served his country for over 26 years, four years in the Navy Reserves and 22 years in the United States Air Force. He spent over seven years serving in foreign countriesall over the world to include tours in Vietnam, and duty assignments in Germany, and Korea. Later as part of an Air Force Inspector General's Team he toured the world inspecting units to ensure compliance to standards were met. He retired from active duty in 1983 and his reserves obligation in 1985. Joel then worked for Xerox for 17 years from which he also retired in 2000. \r\n\r\nJoel is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Elizabeth Robbins. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, his son and wife Robert and Sherril Robbins, his daughter and husband Tina and John Gross and his grandchildren, Sierra and Noelle Robbins and Morgan and Ben Gross. He is also survived by sister and her husband Alice and Chuck Magliocca. He also leaves behind his spoiled furry friends Molly and Trooper.\r\n\r\nFuneral Services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00pm at Grimes Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry St. Bandera, TX. Msgr. Frank Kurzajof St. Stanislaus Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.\r\n
