Joe Villanueva

December 12, 1925 — August 27, 2015

On August 27, 2015, Joe R. Villanueva was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ and with his wife of 64 years, Herlinda and his oldest son, Louis who preceded him in death.\r\n \r\nJoe or "Teco" as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was born to Florencio and Maria Villanueva on December 12, 1925 (El Dia De La Virgen De Guadalupe) in Kerrville, TX.\r\n \r\nHe proudly lived in Kerrville his entire life of 89 years, and was grateful to his family, friends and the Kerrville community in which he raised 6 children. Kerrville was a place he loved and very proudly called home. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church. He was a hardworking, friendly and loving man with a positive attitude who always followed through with his commitments. A major accomplishment other than raising 6 children during some difficult times, was retiring from the Kerrville State Hospital with 30 plus years and at the same time completing 30 years at a part time job with Sid Peterson Hospital. He taught us about dedication and commitment by example, but no matter how tired or busy he was, he always made time for family and friends. Over his 89 years, he touched a lot of lives and was ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.\r\n \r\nHe was also preceded in death by his parents, Florencio and Maria Villanueva; 3 brothers, Jose, Ygnacio and Salvador Villanueva; 2 sisters, Louisa Ybarra and Guadalupe Trevino.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his son, Nick Villanueva and wife, Hilda; 4 daughters, Yolanda Davila and husband, Joe, Velia Ayala and husband, Robert, Teresita Gove and husband, Scott, Adelita Villanueva and husband, Richard; and his daughter in law, Connie Villanueva. \r\n \r\nHis passion was his family, and he was extremely proud of his 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and all of his nieces and nephews. \r\n \r\nHe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.\r\n \r\nRosary is scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2015 at 6 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Joey Villanueva, Tony Villanueva, Bobby Ayala, Joey Ayala, Nick Villanueva, Thomas Ayala and Tony Ayala.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to the American Cancer Association.\r\n
