Joe Ernest Valderaz was born May 8, 1939 in Comfort, Texas. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his mother, Estella Valero Alcorta and his father, Joe Valderaz; his daughter, Esther Valderaz; three brothers, Jimmy Alcorta, Ben Alcorta and Simon Valderaz; two sisters, Emma Ontiveros and Betty Guerrero.\r\n \r\nHe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Helen Valderaz; 7 children, Estella Guerrero and husband, Alvarodo, Raymond Valderaz and wife, Teresa, Robert Valderaz, Ernestina Valderaz and Miguel Mathieu, Lisa Flores, Ernest Valderaz and Amelia Silva, Melinda Rene Rangel and husband, Manuel; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.\r\n \r\nJoe Valderaz went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2017, surrounded with the love and comfort of his family.\r\n \r\nHe enjoyed music, dancing, boxing watching old Westerns and family gatherings. He moved to Nebraska, worked as a foreman at Army Amunition, and worked in nursing and eventually started his own business doing lawn service and construction. As the years went by, he became interested in real estate - the purchase of homes, remodeling and/or building them and using them as rentals. Yet again, he started another business, "Ernie's Lounge."\r\n \r\nAfter years of hard work, he decided to retire and relocate closer to home and moved to Galveston, Texas. Finding that retirement wasn't for him, he began his construction business again and continued with real estate for many years. Finally, after being convinced by his children, he moved to Kerrville, Texas to be even closer to them.\r\n \r\nRosary will be held 6 PM, Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n
