Jody Smith

Jody Smith, 57 passed away at her home in Bandera, Texas Thursday, June 28, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.\r\n\r\nJody was born June 23, 1961 in Houston, Texas to Jacqueline Dillard and Fred Knowlton Dodge. On September 5, 1981 she was united in marriage to Aubrey H. "Red" Smith in Baytown, Texas. Jody and Red have been residents of Bandera County since 2012 when they relocated here. Jody loved crafts especially needle point, cross stitching and quilting. She never met a stranger and looked forward to new experiences.\r\n\r\nJody was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of thirty-six years Aubrey H. "Red" Smith; sons James Knowlton Smith and wife Nesha of Houston, Texas and Michael Aubrey Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother Kevin Knowlton Dodge of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren Matthew Knowlton Smith and William Edward Smith as well as many other dear extended family members and treasured friends. \r\n\r\nShe was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be missed.\r\n\r\nA visitation will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M..\r\n\r\nThe funeral service will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Bandera on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. Interment will follow at Bandera Cemetery.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in Jody's name to Susan G. Komen, P.O. Box 6678, San Antonio, Texas 78209 or any non profit breast cancer awareness organization.
