Joan M. Harper, 63,of Bandera, Texas passed away on March 3rd, 2020 at Bandera Nursing and Rehab Center under the care of All County Hospice after a short illness. She was married to Gary Harper on October 7, 2005 in Bandera.\r\n\r\nAfter high school and college in New York State, Joan spent many years working for the Marriott Corporation in the marketing sector for food service. Upon retirement because of a disability, Joan tended to her dear mother Helen, who suffered from Alzheimer's, for 7 years until her passing. After moving to Bandera in 2004, Joan was active in volunteering with bingo, first at the American Legion Post 157 in Bandera and then at the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department. While at the American Legion Joan helped in the launching of the C.E.R.T. program for Bandera County.\r\n\r\nJoan was preceded in death by her father, Francis M. Murray, her mother, Helen Murray (nee: Hoey) and her brother Bernard (Brian) Murray.\r\n\r\nJoan is survived by her husband Gary Harper, step children Jonathan Harper and Jessica Harper, her sister Jean Kennedy and granddaughters Jasmine Bielec and Naomi Rogers.\r\n\r\nA Memorial service will be held Saturday, 1:00 pm, March 14th, 2020 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. Pastor Robert Devorz of the Shepherds Gate Community Church will officiate.\r\n\r\nAfter the service family and friends are welcome to join Gary at the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department bingo hall from 2:30 until 3:30 for memory sharing and refreshments.\r\n\r\nContributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Joan's memory.
