Joan Otto Daunt passed away peacefully on February 25, 2018 she was born in Houston to Driscoll Arthur Otto and Gertrude Taylor Otto in 1931. Joan graduated high school from St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio and then attended Cornell University until her marriage on June 30, 1951 to Gordon Lennard Lewis II. She later graduated from the University of Houston with a double major in Spanish and French. \r\n\r\nJoan was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Gertrude " Bunkie" McGowen, Martha "Pete" Camp and brother Driscoll A. Otto. Joan was also preceded in death by her husbands Gorden Lennard Lewis II, Samuel Everett McHard and Canon A. Nelson Daunt. \r\n\r\nDuring Joan's 86 years of life she lived on a ranch in Boerne Texas, married Gordon, lived in Chicago, then moved to Houston where she raised her children. She so loved the Hill Country that she returned 30 years ago and lived in Bandera Texas where she raised sheep, goats and chickens. \r\n\r\nJoan was active in the Houston Junior League and the River Oaks Garden Club while in Houston. In Bandera she served on the board of the Bandera Library and supported the Bandera Youth Livestock Auctions. She had a deep and abiding faith in our Lord and she expressed that by her service to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. She served on the vestry, was Senior Warden and was active on numerous committees. She was a Lay Eucharistic Minister and sang in the Choir. The Cowboy Eucharist was her favorite service where she could sing, dance and entertain. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her children: Rebecca Lewis Hobson and husband Mark, Gordon Lennard Lewis III and wife Katryn, Samuel Everett McHard and wife Marguerite, Elaine McHard Eisemann and husband Dean; Eleven Grandchildren, Amanda Hobson Savoie and husband Ryan, Jennifer Hobson Kaldis and husband Greg, Emma Otto Lewis, Gordon Lennard Lewis IV, Joan deSeay Lewis, Jeff Eisemann and wife Kelli, Nancy Eisemann Bradshaw and husband Sam, Kurt Eisemann, Eliza McHard, Elaine McHard and Molly McHard; Two Great Grandchildren Wren Savoie and Leigh Savoie.\r\n\r\nA Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. \r\n\r\nThe family owes enormous gratitude to Melissa and Bobby Stewart, Kay Kennedy and Harlin Richardson whom Joan considered dear friends. Kaitlin Robinson, Amber Jackson and Samantha Vargas were also loving caregivers.
