Jimmy Louis Ross, 78, of Camp Wood, died Wednesday, November 18. \r\n \r\nHe was born to the late Raymond and Anice Ross, December 31, 1936 in Luling, Texas. Jimmy graduated as Valedictorian from Luling High School in 1955, received his B.A. in Business from the University of Texas in 1959, and his Juris Doctorate also from the University of Texas in 1961. He married Nancy May in 1959 and they lived in Houston and Dimmitt, Texas before retiring to Kerrville and Camp Wood in 2001. \r\n \r\nJimmy worked his way up from an oil rig to UT Law School to Texaco in Houston and ultimately to the small town where he wanted to practice law and raise his children. He was County Attorney for Castro County from 1964-1968. During his law career, he received many recognitions: Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, Trustee of the State Bar of Texas Insurance Trust, Commissioner of National Conference on Uniform State Laws, and was a 50-year member of the State Bar of Texas. \r\n \r\nJimmy loved hunting, golf and tennis but his true passions were the Texas Longhorns and his Hill Country cabin in Roaring Springs. \r\n \r\nJimmy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy and two daughters, Angela Touchstone of Houston and Amy Salter of Kerrville, and her husband Jake Salter. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Raymond, Samuel and Sara Touchstone, James and Kas Salter, and his beloved cat, Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Anice Ross and his sister Colleen Ross. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. \r\n \r\nA Memorial and Celebration will be held Saturday, December 5th at 3pm at the Y.O. Ranch and Resort Hotel in Kerrville. \r\n \r\n
