James Robert 'Jim Bob' Stevens, 69, of Harper, passed away on October 26, 2018 in Harper. He was born in Fredericksburg to G.C. "Pooch" Stevens and Marjorie Mae Parker Stevens on April 25, 1949. He married Mary Ann Kensing on June 8, 1968 in Harper.\r\n\r\nHe attended school in Harper. He worked as a rancher his entire life and for many years was the lead singer for the Last Road To Texas Band. He was a member of the Harper United Methodist Church and had previously served on the Harper School Board, the Harper Volunteer Fire Department, and the Harper Park Board.\r\n\r\nJim Bob was preceded in death by his parents, G.C. "Pooch" and Marjorie Stevens.\r\n\r\nJim Bob is survived by his spouse of 50 years, Mary Ann; children, Sonja and Grant Meyer, and Mona and Rusty Marschall; brother, Logan and Gay Stevens; grandsons, Tyler Meyer and Kyzar Meyer; and step-granddaughters, Hayley and Sterling Blocker, and Keeley Marschall.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be from 5:00-7:00 on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.\r\n\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 9:30 Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with Pastor Neal Matthews of Harper United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Harper Cemetery.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be Bill Cantwell, Will Reid, Keith Kensing, Larry Jung, Garland Black, and Michael Haag.\r\n\r\nHonorary Pallbearers will be Rusty Marschall, Grant Meyer, Tyler Meyer, Kyzar Meyer, Larry Irvin, Jack Kerr, Lynn Parker, Danny Meyer, and Logan Stevens.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Harper United Methodist Church, Harper Cemetery, and Harper Volunteer Fire Department.\r\n\r\nThe family of Jim Bob wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many doctors and nurses who provided medical care throughout his life.
