James "Jim" Grover Leak, age 77, entered heaven on Friday, May 3, 2019, in Kerrville, Texas. He was born January 31, 1942, to D.S. and Helen Leak of Riverview, Alabama where he grew up.\r\n\r\nThe Air Force took Jim to San Antonio. He met Cathy Mayree Craig at Central Baptist Church where they were married on July 8, 1966. God blessed Jim and Cathy with a daughter and two sons. Jim was a devoted father and enjoyed being a grandfather.\r\n\r\nIn 1971, Jim entered the ministry. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980. He served as Associate Pastor at Crossroads Baptist Church in San Antonio before moving to Kerrville. From 1989 through 1999, Jim served as Minister of Education and Administration at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville. In 2000, he became the Director of Missions for the Hill Country Baptist Association. Over the years, Jim made time to serve others in Jesus' name while doing disaster relief work with the Texas Baptist Men. He was also an accomplished genealogist and historian, writing several books.\r\n\r\nJim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cathy, and his brothers Douglas Leak and George Leak. He is survived by his son Corey Leak, daughter Kerri Sparkman, son Kyle Leak, grandchildren Keaton Leak, Taylor Miears, Grayson Leak, Chrislyn Sparkman, Caylie Howard, Colton Howard, Reese Leak, his brother D.S. Leak III and multiple nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to the Texas Baptist Men at https://tbmtx.org/donate.\r\n\r\n
