Jesus Cardenas

Jesus O. Cardenas, 79, of Bandera Texas, passed away on May 15, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Hondo, Texas to Juan Jose Cardenas and Juanita Ortiz Cardenas on September 30, 1941. He married Maria Socorra on May 10, 1960 in Hondo, Texas. They were married 61 years on their anniversary this May. He went to school in Hondo, Texas and worked as a ranch foreman and also at Boyles Food Store. He was employed as a foreman for Hevenors Lumber and Hardware in Bandera, Texas for 19 years. Jesus was involved in Little League in Bandera and active in the community for many years, becoming a great mentor for many. He was also a big fan and supporter of the Bandera Bulldog High School athletic teams. Jesus Cardenas was preceeded in death by his parents, Juan and Juanita Cardenas; son, Jesus Cardenas; brothers, Juan Cardenas, David Cardenas; sisters, Sopas, Chavela, Grace, Elvida, Angie, and Maria. Jesus Cardenas is survived by his wife, Maria Cardenas; daughters, Jane Romero (Chris), Anna Sarabia (Jimmy); sons, Johnny Cardenas ( Lisa), Mike Cardenas (Desirae), Jesse Cardenas (Georgina), Epi Cardenas ( Paty), Gilbert Cardenas (Olivia), Jeremiah Sierra (Erica); brother, Gustavo Cardenas ( Nina); sister, Ophelia Lopez; twenty one grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Bandera, Texas, Monday, May 24, at 4 PM. A Viewing will be 9:00AM to 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Bandera, Texas with Funeral Service at 10:00 AM and Burial immediately following at St. Stanislaus New Catholic Cemetery. Rev. Msgr. Frank Kurzaj will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Geronimo Cardenaz, Anulfo Cardenas, Larry Cardenaz, Joe Anthony Guajardo, Joe Robert Guajardo, Agustine DeLeon, Lupe DeLeon, and Luis Cardenas.
