Jenny Mayles

September 12, 1931 — September 29, 2014

Jenny Lind Carter Mayles was born September 12, 1931 and died September 29, 2014 in her sleep. After a lifetime struggle she has finally found peace.\r\n \r\nA graduate of Johnson City High School, class of ‘49, she worked as a stenographer in Dallas, Texas. There she met and married Robert Glenn Mayles of Newell, West Virginia. Jenny and Robert, both filled with a burning ambition to shake off their pasts and find adventure in life, set out to do so on the wings of the U.S. Air Force. They eventually had six children who remain a testimony to that adventure.\r\n \r\nJenny leaves behind four daughters and two sons: Lori Mayles-Wells, Lind Mayles-Kees, Lois Mayles-McInis, Lisa Mayles-Zapata, James Robert Mayles, and R. Jerard Mayles. She leaves as well, nine grandchildren: Rayne, Bailey, Hanna, Sunnye, Jack, James, Wesley, Olivia, Jennifer, and Sean. She is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katie Grace Clark. She leaves as well, great grandchildren: Robyn, Hope, Taylor, Dylan, Sean, Kimber, Kalob, Jacob, and Jadon, Garret, Zephyr, Lillian, Kalynn, Cheyenne, Max, and Sahar.\r\n \r\nShe left all of us the invaluable gifts of open-mindedness, abhorrence of racial discrimination, and value of one another as well as survival savvy that has made us all who we are - and incredibly rich legacy after all.\r\n \r\nJenny Lind wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.\r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n
