Jean Finley Pumphrey, age 89, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in a San Antonio hospital. She moved to Kerrville in 1981 after previously residing in Houston for 17 years.\r\n \r\nShe was born June 3, 1925 in St. Louis, MO to the late Maud (Powell) Herman and Arthur Herman.\r\n \r\nJean graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from William Woods College, Fulton, MO in 1944 and later continued studies at Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and the University of Missouri. She worked as a secretary for Ralston Purina Company in St. Louis and Denver, and the R.T. French Company in Houston.\r\n \r\nBefore retiring in Houston, Jean had lived in 10 states, 15 cities, and 30 houses. These changes taught her to find something good and interesting about each location and prompted her to travel often to many foreign countries after retirement.\r\n \r\nShe was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church since 1981, a member of Joy Sunday School Class, and enjoyed many friendships and activities in the Prime Time Ministry. Jean did volunteer work for CAM for many years and loved to play bridge with many friends. \r\n \r\nShe was preceded in death by James E. Finley, her husband of 26 years, and by Jack Pumphrey, her husband of 6 years. \r\n \r\nSurvivors include daughter, Sheri Riley and husband, Bob of Blanco; son, David Finley and wife, Helena of Houston; grandchildren, Catherine Finley, Elizabeth Finley and James Finley; and 10 nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be held Sunday, December 21, 2014, 5-7 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014, 11 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Dr. Bill Blackburn. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, CAM, or the charity of one's choice. \r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
