Janet Fritz Ahrens, age 75 of Kerrville, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Peterson Regional Medical Center. She was born February 24, 1941 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Edgar and Melinda (Striegler) Ahrens.\r\n \r\nJanet attended the rural White Oak School prior to attending in Kerrville, graduating from Tivy High School in 1959. She spent a year at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin where she was feature twirler and a clarinet player for the band. In 1963, Janet obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.\r\n \r\nJanet was a registered nurse who worked in nursing for 42 years, beginning her career at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where she was a relief night supervisor before becoming the Director of Nursing. She also worked at Seguin's Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in hospice, the Kerrville State Hospital doing various floor work, and finally, Trinity Mission Health-Rehab of Comfort as a nursing supervisor. \r\n \r\nJanet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville and Hermann Sons Lodge in Fredericksburg. She grew up riding horses and working on her family's ranch. Her hobbies were showing Keeshond dogs and fishing.\r\n \r\nSurvivors include daughters, Teresa Koebke and her husband Mike, of San Antonio, and Melinda Wilkinson and her husband Garland, of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother, Kenton Ahrens of Kerrville; and 6 grandchildren, Tamara Bennett, Joshua Shook, Ethan Shook, Shelby Wilkinson, Grant Wilkinson and Nancy Wilkinson.\r\n \r\nServices will be held at 10 am, Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with interment following at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n \r\nPallbearers will be Elmer Ahrens, Grant Wilkinson, Joshua Shook, Ethan Shook and Benard Fritz.
