James Gregory (Greg) Williams passed at his home in Kerrville from the effects of ALS on July 14, 2016 with Katie, his wife, by his side. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on February 26, 1952 to Omer Edward Williams and Bonnie Harris Williams Selph. He met his soul mate, Katie Coleman Williams in 2001 in San Antonio, TX and they were married on October 25, 2003 in La Paz, Mexico on the beach.\r\n \r\nGreg was so very brave, strong and courageous during his journey with ALS. He was also a man with heart.\r\n \r\nHe attended high school in Huntsville, Alabama. He attended Auburn University and graduated from the University of Texas in San Antonio.\r\n \r\nDuring his life he wore many hats; Army Sargent, recreational Sailor, Tinker (auto repair), Tailer (clothing sales while in college) and everything related to construction. He called himself "an over educated carpenter ". He was a collector of tools, guns, compasses and antique straight razors. He was in the process of having his father's 1926 Model T car restored. He liked to hunt and take it from the field to the dinner table. He was a member of the T Fords of Texas in San Antonio and a past member of the Hill Country Yacht Club at Canyon Lake. He prided himself for being an honest and fair man. He believed in God and though not confirmed, thought of himself as Catholic. May God have mercy on his soul\r\n \r\nGreg is preceded in death by his father, Omer Edward Williams. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 12 years, Katie Coleman Williams; mother Bonnie Selph; and step-mother Brenda Williams; brothers Dale Williams (wife Debi and daughter Emily), Gil Williams (significant other Denise); sisters Stephanie DeFoe (husband John), Stacie Riess (husband Matt); his goddaughter, Jesica Maldonado; along with many friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be deeply missed.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers , memorials may be sent to the Houston Methodist ALS Fund, 6560 Fannin Street, Suite 802, Houston, TX 77030 and/or Peterson Hospice,1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Peterson Hospice staff for their love and kindness shown to Greg during the end of his journey. \r\n \r\nA celebration of life will be held at the Museum of Western Art Pavilion on August 13, 2016 starting at 4 pm.
