James Warnix

James ("Jim") Lynn Warnix of Ingram, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2019, at the age of 73, following a brief battle with acute kidney disease. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, April Warnix, and three children: Stacey Warnix, Chris Warnix and wife Jennifer, and Ashley Warnix. \r\n\r\nBorn in Westerly, Rhode Island, to Darrell and Lois Warnix, Jim graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, and earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He spent the majority of his career working as an acoustical engineer for NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, where he served on design teams for the Space Shuttle fleet and the International Space Station. Jim was a Silver Snoopy recipient, an annual award presented by NASA astronauts for outstanding achievements contributing to flight safety and mission success.\r\n\r\nJim was preceded in death by both of his parents. In addition to his wife and children, Jim is survived by three grandchildren (Emily Warnix, Elayne Warnix, and Riley Warnix), two brothers (Robert "Bob" Warnix and Danny Warnix), two sisters (Nancy O'Malley and Linda Black), and numerous extended family and close friends.\r\n\r\nFriends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at Kerrville Bible Church, located at 898 Harper Road in Kerrville, Texas, starting at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 22. A light lunch will be served at the church in lieu of a burial service, as Jim has elected to be cremated and have his ashes spread on his ranch in the Texas Hill Country.
