James Rodriguez Sr.

James David (Jimmy) Rodriguez, Sr., age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, in a local nursing facility. He was born on October 30, 1931 in Kerrville, TX to Joseph Paul (Polly) Rodriguez and Ruth Castillo Rodriguez. \r\n\r\nHe graduated from Tivy High School in 1950 and joined the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return to Kerrville, he worked as an admissions clerk at the Veteran's Administration Hospital until his retirement in 1990.\r\n\r\nJimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Eva (Garza) Rodriguez; daughter, Elizabeth (Robin) Clapper; son, James (Terry) Rodriguez, Jr.; grandchildren, Sarah (JD) Escobar, Joseph Chappins and Jamie Rodriguez (Adrian Ornelas). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alijah and Iann Chappins, Aliyana and Ariella Ornelas, Olivia Escobar and another great-grandchild on the way.\r\n\r\nJimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Corine Pedraza; brothers, Paul and Louis Rodriguez; granddaughter, Christina Elizabeth Chappins; and son-in-law, Jack Chappins.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville.\r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Brother Nick Ramos and Brother Orlando Tejeda officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.\r\n\r\n
