James Scott Poynter, 64, of The Woodlands, TX, passed away on October 19, 2014 in Bandera, TX. He was born in Maitland, MO to Eugene and Betty Stone-Poynter on September 14, 1950.\r\n\r\nDue to several family relocations, Scott went to grade school in Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, and graduated from high school in Holton, Kansas in 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and an all-star football, basketball, and softball player. Scott served in the Navy during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Morocco. Once discharged from the Navy, he completed his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees at Emporia State College in Emporia, Kansas. He worked as an accountant for a number of companies, most recently RSC. From a young age, Scott always had a love of music. He was an accomplished musician, playing drums and anything that had keys and strings.\r\n\r\nScott is preceded in death by a brother, Michael Eugene Poynter and his mother, Betty Stone-Poynter.\r\n\r\nScott is survived by two daughters, Tara Poynter of Conroe, TX, Amber Mangold and her husband Paul of Bandera, TX, and a son, Jacob Britton and his wife Lauren of Katy, TX, and a sister, Sharon Offutt and her husband Darrell of Sugar Land, TX, his father, Eugene Poynter of Mound City, MO, and his four grandchildren: Aubrey, Payson, Luke, and Makenna.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2014, 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. \r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014, 3:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. \r\n\r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]
