James D. 'Jimmie' McKie, 92, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Kerrville. He was born in Pickens, Mississippi on September 19, 1924. \r\n \r\nHe served his country during WWII as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He worked in the Wholesale Hardware business until 1955 when he went into business for himself, The McKie Company, and continued as an active member until his death. He was past president of Texas Hardware Boaster Club, Southern Hardware Salesman Assoc., Texas Wholesale Hardware Assoc., and Life Member of Veterans' of Foreign Wars and American Legion. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife, Myrna; two children, Thomas and Larisa McKie of Edmond, Oklahoma and Linda Sheehy and Keith Petitt of Tyler, Texas; five grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. \r\n \r\nGraveside services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Garden of Memories Cemetery,3250 Fredericksburg Road, Kerrville, Texas.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunt United Methodist Church or to a charity of one's choice. \r\n'
