James Robert "J.R." Lovelady of Kerr County, TX passed away into the arms of our Lord, January 29th, 2016. He was 83 years old.\r\n \r\nMr. Lovelady is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theone; and four children: Michael Paul of Lancaster, CA, Steven Scott of Canyon Lake, TX, James Tracy of Kennewick, WA, and Tamyra Gail of Montgomery, TX.\r\n \r\nJames Lovelady was born in 1933 in Slaton, TX to Orus Tracy and Mary E. Lovelady. He was the fourth of seven children and is survived by one brother and two sisters: Jerry Lee of San Antonio, TX, Mary Jane Robinson of Slaton, TX, and Susan Margaret Wilson of Cortez, FL.\r\n \r\nJames attended public schools in Slaton before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950. He achieved the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before transferring to the U.S. Navy Reserve. He retired as a Chief Yeoman with a total of 28 years of military service.\r\n \r\nMr. Lovelady served as a Public Affairs Specialist at Fort Huachuca, AZ, White Sands Missile Range, NM and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. He was the Public Affairs Officer at TECOM for three years prior to his retirement. Jim had a total of 38 years of Federal Service to our Country.\r\n \r\nJim Lovelady was an avid vegetable and flower gardener. He enjoyed raising cows and deer hunting with his wife at their Hill Country homestead. "JR" enjoyed a good drink and was always good for a laugh. Jim will be greatly missed by many life long friends and his family.\r\n \r\nPrivate graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio at a later date.\r\n \r\n
