James Lee (Jim) Forrest, 88, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 after a tough battle with cancer and ensuing complications. Jim was born in Ohio in 1929 with his family moving to Texas in his early school years. He graduated from Weslaco High School and then Southwest Texas State College (now Texas State). He held three college degrees, entering the teaching field in Brownsville and subsequently Donna public schools, before moving into school administration in Donna and Kerrville. He retired as Assistant Superintendent of Kerrville schools in 1986.\r\n\r\nJim was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, active in professional teacher and administrator organizations, as well as civic groups such as Lions Club and Rotary Club. He and wife Jeanne were also active with their local and state Airstream Owners Club. In retirement, they traveled far and wide across these United States. They were extremely proud to have visited all 50 states together during their life together.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank Dad and Mom's extended circle of friends for their lifetime of comradery. Their retirement group luncheons were always a hoot, with a good time had by all. Their circle of friends was furthered with participation in state and national Airstream trailer rallies.\r\n\r\nJim was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mae Jeanne, his parents Helen and Ernie, and brother, Joseph. He is survived by brother Tom (Emma), sons Steve (Loretta), Randy (Sally), and Larry (Megan), six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 7 pm. Services will be Thursday, Oct. 12 at 2 pm. Both will be conducted at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville. Local burial will follow at Garden of Memories.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.\r\n
