James Clark

James Edward Clark was born in Tahoka, Texas on April 21, 1941 to his parents, James E. Clark and Myrtle Lee Owens. He went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2016, peacefully at his home in Tarpley, Texas. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Deloris J. Clark; three sisters and one brother, Evelyn Whigham, Juinez Jones Moss, Peggye Loflin, and Lonny Stanley. He left behind two sons, James E. Clark and wife Lavanda of Bouse, Arizona and Darrell J. Clark Sr. and wife Sheila of Bandera, Texas; along with seven grandchildren, Destiny, Jamie, Darrell Jr., Branden, Jessica, Sydney and Tiffany; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nIn 1961, he joined the Navy and served as a machinist until 1964. In 1966, he went to work for Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist and retired after 38 years of service. He loved to explore the desert while living in Barstow, California. There wasn't a cave or crack in the ground he would not enter. He explored the silver mines in the Mojave Desert. He enjoyed digging for treasures such as marbles and railroad trinkets. He was also known as "The Snake Man" while living Barstow; he would catch snakes with his bare hands to sell the venom to the medical field. He also loved going to auctions, antiquing and digging up honeycomb rocks off of the property in Tarpley. Most of all, he loved his family. He will be missed and always treasured by those he left behind. \r\n\r\nHis Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 9:00 am at Grimes Funeral Chapels, 1214 Mulberry St., Bandera, Texas, 78003. A Naval Honor burial will follow the memorial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:15 am at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209.\r\n\r\n
