James M. Beene of Kerrville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 24th at the age of 67. He was happily married to his best friend, Silvia (Gutierrez) Beene for over 45 years. Graduating from Harlingen High School in 1966 and Southwest Texas University in 1971, he established many cherished friendships. Hired in 1971 by The Dallas Police Department, he proudly served united with his "Brothers in Blue" for over 31 years.\r\n \r\nAfter retiring in 2003, he quickly became involved in the Kerrville community serving with: Turtle Creek Community Church, The Kerrville Elks Lodge, Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas, Hill Country Mounted Peace Officers, and St. Vincent De Paul Volunteers. James adored his family and friends, had a wonderful sense of humor and a true joy for life. He will be dearly missed.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Beene; in-laws, Bill and Victoria Gutierrez and sister-in-law, Ruth Rodriguez. He is survived by wife, Silvia; daughter, Courtney (Beene) White, her husband, Erik and grandchildren, Cullen and Ireland White; his sister, Cathy Beene; brother-in-law, Bill Gutierrez and nephew, William Gutierrez of San Antonio; niece, Shelly Rodriguez and her husband, Steve Fletcher of Austin; and Godsons, Troy Wittenbach of Boerne and Christopher Jenkins of Kerrville.\r\n \r\nPer James' request, a private family memorial will be held and his ashes inurned on his family's land.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, please send donations to: The Kerrville Elks Lodge #2081, Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas program, "In Honor of James Beene" P.O.
