Jack Hunt Parks, 78 of Hunt, Texas, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n \r\nJack was born August 5, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Mary Anna Hunt Parks and Milton B. Parks Jr. He grew up in San Antonio and Houston. He graduated from Tivy High School in 1956, attended Tarleton State University and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1961. \r\n \r\nHis career took him from West Texas to Chicago and Kansas City, Missouri, returning to Texas in 1983.\r\n \r\nIn 1959, he married Janet Caton and they had 57 wonderful years together. He leaves behind his wife, Janet; daughter, Lisa and her husband, Doug Shipps; granddaughters, Sabrina and Bailey Shipps; and great-grandson, Grayson McCoy. He was predeceased by his son, Howard Caton Parks in 2010. He also leaves behind his brother and wife, Hubbard and Karen Parks and his sister, Mary Jo North; sister-in-law and husband, Karen and Darryl Brown; devoted friend of the family, Deblynne Williamson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, an uncle, and his loving dog, Sadie.\r\n \r\nJack was involved in the Boy Scouts with his son and was Scout Master for several years. After returning to Kerrville and Hunt, he served on the Kerrville Public Utility Board of Directors, the board of Kerr Central Appraisal District, the Japonica Hills Properties Owner's Association and was a founding member of the Hunt Preservation Society.\r\n \r\nIn 2000, he purchased The Hunt Store and spent the next nine years enjoying "meeting and greeting" locals and out-of-towners with his "gift of gab."\r\n \r\nVisitation will be from 4-6 PM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nServices will be 4 PM, Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated Rev. Sam Hunnicutt. Private family burial will be held. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Hunt Preservation Society or the charity of one's choice.\r\n
