With great sadness we announce the passing of Jack Carleton Hoggett (Coach Hoggett). He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family August 13, 2018 at Junction, TX. He enjoyed 88 glorious years.\r\n\r\nJack was a gentleman, husband, father, a respected rancher and horseman, calf roper, coach and teacher. Born September 15, 1929 to Pierce Alexander Hoggett and Marguerite Wright Hoggett in Junction, TX.\r\n\r\nJack learned the ranching business at an early age raising prize mohair goats, sheep, cattle and always had a string of good horses. He was one of the premier calf ropers in the country and roped at all the major rodeos including Calgary, Cow Palace and Madison Square Gardens. He was deadly as a match roper and more times than not took home all the prize money.\r\n\r\nJack attended school in Kerrville, TX where he acquired his love of football. He graduated Tivy High School and received a football scholarship. He played football, rodeoed and was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. He met the love of his life, Rosemary Patterson, while both were in attendance at STSU. Even though they were married on Friday the 13, March 1953 in Woodsboro, TX. Jack said it was the luckiest day of his life which proved correct for they had a beautiful loving marriage for 65 years.\r\n\r\nFor 25 years Jack devoted his life to coaching and teaching Junction ISD students. Coach Hoggett valued each and every player and student. He strove to push them to excel in their strengths and work hard to improve their weaknesses.\r\n\r\nJack raised two handsome sons, Jack Carleton and Jerry Wayne, whom he loved very much. Not believing in the old adage spare the rod and spoil the child the proverbial Roping rope was always handy, but it was through prayer that raised his boys into fine men. Jack is the proud Granddad of Heath, whom he mentored and shared his love of Roping; Kinsey who acquired his passion for sports; and Samantha, who gained his love of reading and art. There was a mutual adoration between him and his great grandchildren, Kora, Macy and Sean. All grandchildren and great grandchildren received his gift of the love of fine horses and became accomplished horsemen. Jack thought the world of his only nephew, Derrick.\r\n\r\nJack enjoyed retirement playing tennis and golf with Rosemary and dear friends. He tolerated the family ski trips, but would rather have been watching football. He will always be an eternal football fan.\r\n\r\nJack was a member, past Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He had held the degree of Grand Master of the Junction Masonic Lodge.
