Jack Alfred Folliott, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his residence in Kerrville, Texas. Jack was born in 1927 in Wagoner, Oklahoma, to William Henry Folliott II and Charlotte Stout Folliott, just in time for the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression. At the age of 17, he left high school to join the Navy during World War II. After his discharge from the Navy, he attended the University of Arkansas, where he was the President of his fraternity, Sigma Nu, and was the first member of his family to graduate from college. He was a professional shooter for the Remington Arms Company for several years and then went to work for National Car Rental Systems, becoming the National Sales Manager. After resigning as sales manager, he owned National car franchises in Brownsville, Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, and South Padre Island, going from a fleet of 29 cars to 500 cars. When he left National Car Rental after 26 years, he sold real estate for 10 years. Jack was a longtime member and trustee of First United Methodist Church in San Benito and Brownsville, served on the Board of Directors at Camp Thicket Methodist Retreat, was a Director of National Bank of Commerce Brownsville, served on the Board of the American Red Cross Brownsville, was a Rotary Paul Harris fellow, and was a Director Emeritus of the Gladys Porter Zoo. \r\n\r\nJack was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Nina Ward Folliott, and their two sons, Jack Folliott, Jr., and Lance Folliott. He is survived by his wife Sarah Jane Ponton Folliott; one son Marc Kennedy; three grandchildren, Sabre, Amy, and Stacy Kennedy; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Kainoa, Lulana, and Mana; two nieces, Kathy Kerbein and Vickie Service, and nephew William Folliott.\r\n\r\nJack's life will be celebrated with a prayer service in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, Texas, on Monday, December 30 at 3:00 pm, with burial at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gladys Porter Zoo, 500 E Ringold, Brownsville, TX 78250, would be appreciated.
