Jack Cockrill, 79, of Kerrville, TX, passed away peacefully in his home on March 11, 2018 in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Stringtown, OK to Clive Baker and Thelma Lou Cockrill on September 7, 1938. He married Nancy Lee Mooney on September 26, 1957.\r\n\r\nHe went to school at Stringtown, OK and Durant, OK. He graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a BA in Social Science. He received his Master's degree from North Texas State and his Doctorate from East Texas State University in Educational Administration. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. He was involved in Rotary Club and Lion's Club during his life. He was heavily involved with Texas State Administrators organizations and served in a number of positions throughout his life.\r\n\r\nHe began his career in education as a history/government teacher and coach and served in Plano ISD for 16 years as teacher/coach, principal, personnel director, and assistant superintendent. He coached on two state championship football teams. He served 5 years in the superintendency at Gilmer ISD, followed by 5 years in Kerrville ISD, followed by 14 years in Mckinney ISD. He continued to serve other school districts in leadership roles as interim superintendent for the next 15 years.\r\n\r\nHe is proceeded in death by his parents, C.B. & Thelma Cockrill, his brother, Charles Cockrill.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his spouse, Nancy Cockrill, his children Karen & Pat Hale, Greg & Claressa Cockrill, Kim & Mark Richardson, and David Cockrill. Also, his sister June Rossetti and spouse George and brother Boyd Cockrill and spouse Pat. Grandchildren: Christa Julien, Patrick Hale Jr., Aaron Cockrill, Levi Cockrill, Kyla Richardson, Kendall Lunsford, Jackson Cockrill, Cooper Cockrill. Great Grandchildren: Taylor Hale, Lexi Hale, Jax Julien, Laurel Lunsford.\r\n\r\nFuneral Services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, March 14 at First United Methodist Church, Kerrville TX. Reception to follow at the church.\r\n\r\nMemorials can be directed to Kerrville ISD Education Foundation and First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, TX.\r\n
