Ima Garrett Dean, age 98, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. She was a long time resident of Kerrville, Center Point, and in 2009, she moved to the Austin area. \r\n\r\nShe is predeceased by her husband, Weldon C. Dean; her parents, Al MaFadden Garrett and Letha Munson Garrett; her brothers, Al Vester Garrett and Billy Gene Garrett; and sister, Ruth Garrett Chism Murphy. \r\n\r\nShe leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.\r\n\r\nShe was born January 10, 1920 in Hope, Texas, and attended and graduated from Center Point High School. She married Weldon Dean in December of 1947. She joined the Order of the Eastern Star in 1942 and was a Past Matron of the Center Point Chapter, # 463, O.E.S and also held other offices. Later she transferred to the Kerrville O.E.S. #24 and was a member until she moved to Austin. She also was a member of the Texas Extension Education Club, the Center Point Garden Club and served as President and held other offices since 1972. Throughout the years, she attended the Center Point Christian Church, and the First Christian Church in Kerrville. She was on the committee that organized the Center Point All School Reunion and she worked and attended many of those school reunions.\r\n\r\nThroughout her life she loved being with, and caring for her family. She loved researching her family history and was one of our family's historians, keeping pictures and family stories alive. \r\n\r\nHer true passion was cooking and she loved to share her skills, her food and recipes with others. One of her favorite things to do was to enter her pickles, jams and jellies in the county fair and she had a large scrapbook of her ribbons to show how wonderful they were.\r\n\r\nA graveside memorial service will be held for the family at the Center Point Cemetery, at a date to be determined.\r\n\r\n
