Ila Rauch Geyer passed away on August 22, 2015 following a long battle with heart disease. Born February 7, 1935 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Ila was a tenacious, beautiful woman who was a teen model for LS Ayers, a large department store in Indianapolis. During her freshman year in college she was set up on a blind date and met a wonderful man named Larry whom she kissed on the first date. It was scandalous! After two years of dating, they were married on September 3, 1955 and remained married for 60 years. During their life together, Ila and Larry moved 22 times all across the United States. When a realtor would call and say they were on the way, Mom would call a "code red," which meant all kids would jump into action to get the house ready to show. Ila was a very engaged mother. She managed her home, attended all school functions as her children's biggest fan, and ran her home with love. After raising her four children, Ila went back to school and received her BA in Piano Performance from Indiana University. She then continued her education and received her Master's in Piano Performance from the University of California Irvine. She loved to play and teach the piano, even having the privilege of playing with the Indiana Symphony Orchestra. Growing up, her children and grandchildren remember hearing many beautiful songs, and some not so beautiful songs (from those new students). Through it all, she instilled her love for music into many of her students and all of her family.\r\n \r\nIla volunteered for the Peterson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for over 15 years. She was committed to supporting Kerrville and all communities she lived in.\r\n \r\nIla was a wonderful loving mother that will be missed by many. At the time of her passing she had four children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who all loved her very much. Ila is survived by her husband, Larry, her son Ron Geyer, her son Mark Geyer and daughter-in-law Jackie, her daughter Mary Hand and her son-in-law Jac, her daughter Susan Sieker and her son-in-law Fred, daughter in law Debbie Geyer, her grandchildren Brittany Howell, Jeffery Goodman, David Geyer, Samantha Geyer, Michael Geyer, Russell Geyer, Jackson Hand, Andrew Geyer, Christina Geyer and Mitchell Hand, her great-grandchildren Emily Sieker, Daniel Sieker, Kaleb Petrie, Alana Goodman and Raven Osborn and by her friend and caregiver Margaret Deese.\r\n \r\nThe service will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 1:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Peterson Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
