Hurley C. Broach, Jr., of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2016 in Kerrville. He was born in Amarillo, Texas to Hurley and Dolores Broach on January 11, 1933. He married Joann Broach on December 24, 1955 in Amarillo, Texas.\r\n \r\nHe went to school in Amarillo. He was a flight instructor for West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and later, he worked for Asplundh Tree Company as a helicopter/aircraft mechanic and inspector all over the United States. He also worked overseas for several years in Egypt and Cyprus as an aircraft mechanic and training mechanics. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the UN Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.\r\n \r\nHe was active in serving the Lord at First Baptist Church, Kerrville, Texas as a deacon, drove the bus for Joyful Sound and other activities, sang in Joyful Sound, was a greeter and participated in the Christmas pageants (usually as a Shepherd). He went on several mission trips to Honduras, Sri Lanka, and El Salvador. He was a lay chaplain at Peterson Regional Memorial Hospital. He participated in several other local ministries.\r\n \r\nHurley was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Betty Jean Pruner and daughters, Kay Dawn Broach and Lutitia Eileen Linberg.\r\n \r\nHurley is survived by his wife, Joann; son, Clifford Broach of Houston; daughter, Jane Rucker and husband Jerald Rucker of Kerrville; brothers, Tom Broach of Amarillo, Jim Broach of Claude; sister, Mary Jane McCaslin and her husband, Charles McCaslin of Canyon; grandchildren, Dawn Holowiha and husband Craig, Cassandra Lashendock and husband, Robert, and Daniel Linberg (all of Virginia Beach, VA); great-grandchildren, Junior and Cody Linberg, Elizabeth Lashendock and Nathaniel Holowiha; numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Kerrville, Texas with Pastor John Hiddema officiating.\r\n \r\nThe family of Hurley Broach wish to extend our sincere thanks to: Dr. James Young, Dr. Roberts, Dr. Sawaya; nurses: Shane, Devon, Alex, Carolyn; aid - Rachel; all of the staff at Peterson Regional Memorial Hospital and Alpine Terrace Assisted Living & Skilled Nursing and SAMMC for the care and compassion they extended to Hurley and his family; numerous friends and family for their prayers and support.\r\n
