Hugh Samuel Cavitt II, of Kerrville, Texas, departed this life to live with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 15, 2019.\r\n\r\nHugh was a graduate of Texas A&I University and served his country as an Air Force Reservist, in the 1950's. Known as "Javelina Hugh" to his golfing and tennis buddies, Hugh later served as President of the Texas A&I Alumni Association. \r\n\r\nHugh loved to make people laugh and often made it his mission to coerce a laugh out of any sourpuss he encountered.\r\n\r\nHugh was a long-standing member of the Elks Club, where he enjoyed coordinating charitable programs such as the Elks Hoopshoot Championships for children.\r\n\r\nMarried to Martha (Harris) Cavitt in 1965, Hugh enjoyed many wonderful years in Houston and Charlottesville, VA, before losing Martha to heart disease in 1997.\r\n\r\nHe returned to Texas where he was blessed to meet his next beautiful bride, Billie (Ohl) Cavitt. They lived a rich and fulfilling life together, being quite active in their church, Trinity Baptist in Kerrville.\r\n\r\nWith Billie, Hugh enjoyed their beautiful home and gardens, Billie's delicious cooking, and legendary Hill Country sunsets, for many, many years until the Lord called him home.\r\n\r\nHugh is preceded in death by his father, Hugh S. Cavitt; his mother, Nora Slack Cavitt; and his first wife, Martha Harris Cavitt.\r\n\r\nHugh is survived by his loving wife, Billie (Ohl) Cavitt of 15 years; Billie's children, Tammie Hall, Michael McCollum and families; Hugh's daughter (by Martha), Susan (Cavitt) Smart; his brother, Frank Cavitt and wife, Marilyn; his sister, Nora (Cavitt) Roberts and husband, Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews.\r\n\r\nA memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, June 19, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks contributions to be made in Hugh's honor to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.\r\n\r\n
