Hilma Noble

September 19, 1932 — November 1, 2015

Hilma Louise Leyendecker Noble, 83, left behind a broken, tired body to claim a new and perfect one in the presence of Jesus on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Hilma was affectionately known by many as "Granny" and years back, by a host of Tivy Band students, as "Mama Noble." \r\n \r\nOn September 19, 1932 at 3 AM, Dr. Ransour delivered an eight pound baby girl to Lillian McPherson and Jimmy Leyendecker. At around 3 years of age, they moved back to Edgewood, Texas until Hilma was 17. In September 1949, Hilma met and began dating Otis Noble, and on May 10, 1950 they were married. The couple welcomed three children: Larry Ray born May 2, 1951; Evelyn Lou born May 4, 1956; and Calvin Earl born February 2, 1959.\r\n \r\nHilma and Otis celebrated their 28th anniversary on May 10, 1978 and Hilma's 46th birthday in September that year. Sadly, at only 53, Otis went to be with the Lord nine days later on September 25, 1978.Their son Larry also passed at 53 years of age, and on December 7, 2004 he joined his dad and other beloved family members, including Hilma's dad, Ray Eaton (1985) and mother, Lillian Eaton (1995).\r\n \r\nGranny was a charter member of Living Tree Baptist Church where she faithfully attended until her health prevented it. She enjoyed visiting with folks, loved a good laugh, and will be missed by many. \r\n \r\nThose left to honor Granny's memory are her daughter, Evelyn Garrett and husband, John (her favorite son-in-law) and son, Calvin Noble; grandchildren, Scott Noble (Kathy), Sara Benavidez (John), Samanthia Noble, Bubba Garrett (Amanda), Robin Pate (Lt Col Andrew Pate), Randi Garrett-Storms (Dustin), Michael Garrett and Josh Noble; great grandchildren, Henry Noble, Lance Corporal Brandon Noble, Sierra Benavidez, Elena Benavidez, Isaiah Noble, Lilli Garrett, Scooty Garrett, Evie Garrett, Elizabeth Garrett (who Granny called "Honey Bunny"), Autumn Pate, Bailey Pate, Mackenzie Storms, Maeson Storms and Millie Storms; and other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Granny is also survived by special cousins Charles, Pat, Missy, William and Grayson Gray whom she loved so much.\r\n \r\nThe family would like to thank Tri County Home Health, especially Shawna, Ms. Tita, and April; the very caring EMS guys; and the nurses and doctors in the ER, 3rd Floor West, and ICU who cared for Granny in her final days, especially Maricor in ICU.\r\n \r\nJoin us in celebrating Granny's life on Saturday, November 14, 2 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels. We invite you to share a favorite memory or funny story about Granny at the service and encourage you to dress casual and colorfully since this is truly a celebration. Brother Thomas Jeffers of Living Tree Baptist Church and Dr. Joe Taylor of Southern Oaks Baptist Church will conduct the services. Burial will follow at Nichols Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Scott Noble, Bubba Garrett, John Benavidez, Dustin Storms, Robert Maurer; great grandsons, Henry Noble and Isaiah Noble; and cousin, Jerome Chandler.\r\n \r\nA visitation will be held Friday, November 13, 2015, 6:00-8:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be made to Living Tree Baptist Church or to the research of Macular Degeneration. If you prefer to send floral tributes, the family recommends The Rose Shop, 1-800-874-4368.\r\n
