Herschel Allen Moore, Sr. born June 15,1942 in San Antonio, Texas, passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones and went home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2025, at the age of 82.
He was happily married for 42 years to Vicki Rivette Moore they said their vows on July 17, 1982, after which they renewed their vows every ten years in different locations.
He and Vicki were known for many years as having their annual Christmas in June celebration and for their work with the Bandera County Little Theater, home of the Medina Lake Players where he was always quick with a joke or a smile.
Preceded in death by his parents, Buryl and Margaret Moore, his brother, Buryl “Jimmy” Moore and his great grandchild Jayla “Jac” Cano.
Survived by his wife, Vicki Moore, son, Herschel Moore II (Kim Moore) their children: Kristi, Jeremy, Herschel Allen III and Jonathan; his daughter, Jennifer Moore (Allan Boenig) their children: Patricia, Jennanne, Alexandra and Timothy and numerous great grandchildren.
Retired from San Antonio Police Department. He also served as Chief Deputy Sheriff Bandera County and Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Bandera County.
He was a member of the local Mason’s Lodge and was a Master Mason. As such he was also a Shriner.
Herschel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle, loved by almost all and will be sorely missed. He was well known for his sense of humor and honesty. Herschel truly enjoyed art in various forms. He was a painter, he enjoyed sketching and whittling pieces of wood he found.
A celebration of Herschel’s life will be held on May 10, 2025, 11:00 am at Lakehills United Methodist Church, 150 Avenue J, Lakehills, Texas.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bandera Funeral Chapel.
