Henry Eugene Baker, 80, of Ingram, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was born March 9, 1938 in Lowell, MA to the late Mary Catherine Monahan and Henri Baker. \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 1-3 PM, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, TX.\r\n \r\nServices are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Pastor Mel Hardin officiating. Burial will follow at the Nichols Cemetery. \r\n \r\nHe retired from Big Spring State Hospital in April of 2000 with 10 years of service. Prior to that he owned and operated Henry's Plumbing for over 25 years. Henry's plumbing career spanned more than 44 years. \r\n \r\nAt the age of 17, he joined the Air Force and left Massachusetts on a train headed to Goodfellow AFB, TX where he was set up on a blind date with a young San Angelo girl named Esther Marie Holland. Nineteen days later they were engaged to be married and for the next 60 plus years they were inseparable. Henry was adored by his family who always loved to hear the stories of his youth while growing up in Lowell, MA. He truly loved his family and treasured time spent with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Henry was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his wife Esther Marie Baker; children Renea Hipp and husband Barry of Benbrook, TX, Gene Baker and wife Johnita of Kerrville, TX, Shelly Baker of Kerrville, TX; grandchildren Dusty Lann and husband Rainey, Corey Hipp, Haley Alaride and husband Mo Alaride, Corina Huffman, Candace Fogle and husband Matt; 12 great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Soulard and brother Bill Baker, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents and sisters Clare Osgood and Eleanor Thompson.\r\n \r\nServing as pallbearers will be son-in-law Barry Hipp, grandson Corey Hipp, grandson-in-law Rainey Lann, great-grandsons Tyler Lann, Montgomery Lann, and Curtis Lann. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Bartlett and Wayne Culp. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers please make donations to Peterson Hospice, Kerrville, TX.\r\n
