H.C. "Pete" Peterson, age 96 of Kountze, TX, formerly of Kerrville, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Kountze. He was born on April 5, 1919, in Llano, Texas to Allen and Ruby McCoy Peterson. On December 28, 1945 he married Mattye Bell Toon in Austin. \r\n \r\nH.C. served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a plant assigner for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years of service. H.C. was also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Kerrville. \r\n \r\nHe is survived by his granddaughter, Kimberly Williams and husband Matt of Dallas; great grandchildren, Michael and Katherine; niece, Janie Biggs and husband Wayne of Lakeway; niece, Crystal Hammack of Minnesota; brother-in-law, James Hammack; other family, Joyce Hillin of Kountze; Tawnya Smith of Commerce; Tiffany Robbins of San Antonio, and Walter Hillin of Groves. \r\n \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 54 years Mattye Bell Peterson, son, Mike Peterson; sister, Vera Jane Hammack: brother; Little A. C. Peterson; and nephew, James Hammack. \r\n \r\nA graveside service will be held on Friday, January 22, at 3 PM, at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Cemetery, 6300 William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX, 78749, with Pastor A. J. Hillin officiating. \r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Mr. Peterson's name to the Cal Farley Boys Ranch, www.calfarley.org; The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, www.BillyGraham.org; and/or a charity of your choice. \r\n
