Harvey West, age 96, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017 with his family and hospice nurse by his side. He was born in Plant City, Florida on February 23, 1921 to Gibson West and Lummie Ruth Holton West. \r\n \r\nHarvey West was a veteran of World War II and served in the Military Police as a Buck Sergeant. He later worked as an analytical tester for Exxon for 30 years. Harvey was also an amateur radio operator for many years.\r\n \r\nHarvey West was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Long; his second wife, Ona West; his daughters, Elaine Manson, Regenia Bradford, Toni West, Janis Turner; and his granddaughter, Betty Jo McComas. He is survived by his son, Scot West and spouse Rhonda West; his brothers, Gibson West and Jesse Campbell; stepdaughters, Grace Kellum and Judy McMahon; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors.\r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas. Burial will follow at 1:45 pm at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.\r\n \r\nMemorials may be given to The American Cancer Society and Hill Country Memorial Hospice of Fredericksburg, Texas. The family wishes to extend our thanks to Hill Country Memorial Hospice of Fredericksburg.\r\n
