Harold Winn Mitchell, 82 of Ingram, TX passed away on March 10, 2021 in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Dallas, TX to Commodore Glenn Mitchell and Crystal Helen Finch on January 19, 1939. He was married to Ann Van Alst on April 25, 1998 in Port Orange, FL. He attended school in Irving, TX and joined the Army December 27, 1957, serving as a Specialist 5th Grade until December 10, 1960. At which time he was hired by IBM on February 27, 1961. At IBM he was a Customer Service Representation for large systems and retired on July 31, 1991 after 30 years. He was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Poughkeepsie, NY and taught Advanced Coastal Navigation. Upon his move to Florida, he was Commander of Flotilla 4-8 and provided security perimeter for shuttle launches at Cape Canaveral. He became a Florida Master Gardner by the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother. Survivors include his wife, Ann Van Alst; step-son, Christopher Eschbach; daughters Andrea Mitchell, Leslie Mitchell; and sister, Sharon Summerall. A memorial service will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Grimes Funeral Chapels, 728 Jefferson Street, Kerrville, TX with Pastor Jack Haberer officiating.
