Gladys Susie "Sue" Blanton was born on November 23, 1928 in Holden, Louisiana to William and Irene Boyd. She was the youngest of four children. Sue lived a long life filled with love, music, art, faith, and family. Sue was blessed with almost nine decades of happiness and was relentless in the immeasurable love she gave the people around her. Sue passed from this world to be with her Lord on January 15, 2017. \r\n \r\nSue gave her life to Jesus at a young age and was always active in her hometown church, South Park Baptist in Beaumont, Texas, where her family moved when she was a child. Sue learned to play the piano and used her passion for music to serve the Lord and give to the community. Sue attended South Park High School and met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Loven Eugene "Gene" Blanton, whom she married on August 22, 1947. The couple had four boys: Ronny, Jimmy, Daryl and Bill. Sue was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest started school, then earned her college degree in Social Studies and Elementary Education from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and taught sixth grade in Kerrville for 20 years. Sue adored her many grandchildren who knew her affectionately as Subee. \r\n \r\nAn avid painter, Sue created beautiful landscapes in watercolor and oil that she often gifted to friends and family. Many of her paintings grace the homes of her loved ones. Sue found community in her church family, was a dedicated servant of the Lord and a member of Trinity Baptist Church after the Blanton family moved from the Beaumont area to Kerrville in 1960. Sue was also a gifted singer and served in many choirs throughout her life, most recently the Prime Time choir at Trinity Baptist Church. Her influence on children and adults alike is as immeasurable as her loving heart and infectious smile, both of which will be sorely missed.\r\n \r\nSue is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Gene Blanton; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Kathleen; Jim and Stacey; Daryl and Carole; and Bill and Mette, as well as grandchildren and spouses, Erin (Chris); Rory; Alexandra (Aaron); Madison; Curt (Jennifer); Ashley; Danielle (Chad); Julianne (Zach); Brooke; Thor; Johanna; Ashley (Jerry); Easton; Lynleigh; and Little Jerry.\r\n \r\nMemorial services will be held 1 PM, Friday, January 20, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church officiated by Rev. John Wheat.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n
